This is looking up the river Blyth at Southwold harbour on the East coast of England, I love all the paraphernalia and ditritus found around these old harbours. I've painted here many times and usually the painting includes an old shed or two. This time the subject lent itself well to watercolour; the muddy harbour's edge and the watery reflections and the sparkly moonlight bouncing off the surface of the water.

I really like the atmosphere of this painting. Really great.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting, Nigel. Such intense darks and brilliant lights. I tried painting boats in a harbor today for the first time and it sure was tough, so I'm even more impressed by what you've done here.
