In the shade of the Old Chestnut

This is a garden I have painted in before and is a constant source of good subject matter, I have made more of the big tree standing over the crumbling shed below and kept the treatment quite loose. My exhibitions will always contain a shed or two and this is one of them...

A sunny weekend coming up I'm told so hope to be outside painting at the exhibition, in between ice creams!

The Pink Slippers

The exhibition at Lower Slaughter is now underway and despite a wet start it was good to open the doors and welcome new faces and some old friends. Today's painting is of an old sink in the corner of an ancient French house which belonged to the village Blacksmith, It's called 'The Pink Slippers' refering to the items in the bottom left, the house was for sale and was uninhabited it was as though the family had vanished! On show at the exhibition:

Sunlight over Bourton on the Water

I painted this same view in July this year but this time I was much more excited with the light bouncing around on the surface of the River Windrush, I guess light and it's effects, especially over water is what interests me the most.
