Kites on the Beach

Recently I went to the Ile de Re on the west coast of France, beautiful weather, warm sun and blue skies, so my usual landscape palette underwent some changes! In this I was drawn to the bright reflections in the wet sand and the sharp flashes of colour in the sky.

Summer in the Woods

Thankfully there are some large woods near me so walking the dog in this hot weather isn't so bad. I like the way the shadows cascade across the lane and draw the two sides of the wood together, I got a bit lost in the detail though - always a bad idea! I worked from a photo and what I liked most was the amount of gently drifting foliage in the trees (it's a wood Duh!) and the highlights upon it. I know I havn't really acheived what I wanted, but a satisfactory outcome anyway I think

Fruit Market

In almost every small town or village at least once a week at the moment there is a market selling all kinds of fresh fruit and veg, the supermarkets haven't taken over completely yet!

The Windrush at Bourton on the Water

A gorgeous little town here in the heart of the Cotswolds, the River Windrush meanders gently through the middle of the village on it's way to join the River Thames.

Beside the River Glane

I recently took my daughter Jess for a picnic at this spot, it's beside the River Glane near St Junien (you tube link) The painter Corot used to come here from Paris for the Summer just to paint and enjoy the countryside, I can understand why.

Blue Parasols in Bourton on the Water

A hot humid day (although not this Summer!) in the ever popular Cotswold village near to where my forthcoming exhibition will be.

I made the most of the colour highlights and reflective colour in this to create something other that a straight forward representation of a pretty village.
