The Blue Boat
Really
had a lot of fun painting this! and works well with this fairly
'loose' treatment I recon. It's from a photo from the road trip around
Cornwall last year and I can't wait to go back again next year take less
photos and do more painting.

Autumn colour in the Ferris.
The Autumn colours this year seem more vibrant than usual and thankfully the heavy winds have yet to appear. This was painted at the very end of the day with the light disappearing fast behind me, no time therefore to hang around, I love that pressure!

Belle Isle Farm
So back to Garden Cottage now after a couple of weeks staying in a
campervan on the farm where I have a studio. I managed to get plenty of
work done including a very large
commission (more later) and 9 plein air studies around the buildings, a
little tractor driving and hay bale stacking occasionally and plenty of
fresh air!

Summer Light, Temple Mill
Really
hot here today in Sibford, too hot to stay in the studio, so drove
around for a while looking for a suitable subject but with some shade
too...and it must be the 6th time I've painted here!

The White House
From
the wednesday watercolour class, this is a new version of the demo I
did on the day and much looser than the original. I originally got hung
up with all the foliage and flowers (detail) and lost sight of the
bigger shapes...something I'm always preaching!

A Drift of Cosmos...
There won't be many exhibitions I put up which don't display at least one watercolour of flowers. The Cosmos were growing in the garden last year and will provide another stunning show again this time.

Trawlers in Newlyn
I
love the working fishing harbours in Cornwall, the sights, the sounds
the smells and the general industry of the place, I tried to show this
in the painting below rather than the pretty fishing harbour image one
often sees in Cornish paintings, it's one of my favourite paintings in
this show:

Exhibition update
The new exhibition began on Saturday with plenty of visitors and sales, I'm always unsure whether the good weather is a benefit or not. But I'm not complaining. The new work and change of subject matter is going down well I'm pleased to say and I'm finding new things to paint at the farm where I have my studio, like this wall of old rusty tools and cobwebs!

Pretty little boats
I painted these two little boats from a photo from last Summer's trip to Cornwall, as you can tell there was plenty of bright sunshine! I'm very busy organising for the upcoming expo at Swalcliffe Village hall which opens at 10 am this Saturday and runs until the 30th. I'm not sure there is enough wall space this year!

New website...
After several months I can now launch my new website; http://nigelfletcher.co.uk/,
it combines the 'Cotswold Sketchbook' mini paintings which started as a
'painting a day' back in May 2009 along with larger watercolours, oils
and information about exhibitions and workshops. I'll be putting up the
latest exhibition this time next week and will feature most of whats on
the site now...hope you like it.

Whichford Pottery
Had a lovely day's painting at Whichford Pottery on Saturday, plenty of visitors and good to see so many friends. I only managed three paintings - was aiming for 6, but enjoyed chatting to so many people and eating too much cake!

Boats and sheds in Southwold. £99
A quick oil sketch looking across
the river Blythe in Southwold - soft greys and cool colours from a photo
taken on a cold winter's day. What little light there was bouncing over
the fast moving water.
